Wolfgang Weigl
(director, editor, screenwriter, producer Piratenfilm)
Wolfgang Weigl, born1978 in South Germany, „put together“ his first films in the local cinema working several years as a projectionist. After several internships in lighting and editing, he worked as assistant editor for Peter Przygodda in film productions like “Tattoo“ and “Augenlid“. In 2003, he was responsible for editing Stefan Sarazin’s movie “Nitschewo“. Other feature films and documentaries followed (for example “Musica Cubana”, “Furtwänglsers Liebe”, “Heile Welt”, “Steel Trap”, “Don Quichote”). In 2005, he was awarded the German Camera Price for “Kalte Haut” (director: Sebastian Kutzli), and in 2006 the German Editor’s price with film+ for the film “Fair Trade” (editor: Michel Dreher). In addition, he was in charge of coaching film students at the Munich University HFF in the area of editing. In 2008, film+ appointed him member of the preliminary jury of the German Editor’s price. With Toby Bräuhauser and Robert Vervloet, he founded the film production Piratenfilm in 2004. After several short movies, he realised his first movie “blindlings” in 2008.
